The Association of American Boyers, Inc. is an all volunteer non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to cultivate family ties and preserve genealogical records. The first gathering was held on August 20, 1905 in a grove near Christ (Mertz) Church at Dryville, Berks County, Pennsylvania. The reunion was organized by the family of the late Daniel W. Boyer (3-AZ38) in honor of his widow, Mrs. Judith Youse Boyer. From this beginning, then gathering has become an annual event held on the last Saturday in July each year at Boyertown, Pa.

One of the most important sociological developments of the second half of the 20th century has been an accelerated interest in our "roots". There has been a renewal of recognition that genealogical information adds an important dimension to our lives. for most ancestral lines, acquisition of this cherished knowledge is either very difficult or impossible. Not for those of the Boyer descendent.

Family names included in the Association records are Boii, Bayer, Beyer, Boyer, Byer, Beier, Bowyer, Boyers, Byers, etc.; as many of these persons are descended from common ancestors and the spelling of the name has changed through the years.

The 92nd Annual Reunion is set for Saturday July 27, 1996 at the Boyertown Community Park in Boyertown, Pennsylvania. As in other years the Reunion is a chance for Boyers and their descendants for assemble from all over the country for a day of fun and friendly gathering. Prizes are awarded for the person who came the farthest, the oldest, the youngest, you has been married the longest and the shortest, etc.. As usual, a genealogy workshop, lead by our Assistant Historian Neil Boyer, will be held. Additionally, the Historian Donald A. Boyer, and his assistant will be available for research of family genealogical lines.

Membership in the Association can be obtained at the Reunion or through the President William L. Boyer, 3435 Livingston Dr., Jefferson, MD, 21755. The cost is $5 a year or $50 for a life time membership. Membership also entitles you to a copy of the yearly family newsletter "Boyer Roots".

Genealogical contribution or inquirees can be made to the historian Donald A. Boyer, 990 E. Philadelphia St., York, Pa, 17403-1121. Please include a self addressed stamped envelop when making written inquirees; the cost of postage has become prohibitive for the Association to respond to all request.
